Ingredients:
-
2 pork steaks (thin cut)
-
2 large onions (sliced in rings)
-
4 garlic cloves (minced)
-
2 tablespoons of bitter orange juice (or lime juice)
-
1 tablespoon of soy sauce (optional for depth)
-
1 teaspoon of ground cumin
-
½ teaspoon of oregano
-
Salt and black pepper to taste
-
2 tablespoons of olive oil
Preparation Method:
-
Marinate the Pork:
In a bowl, combine the pork steaks with bitter orange juice (or lime juice), minced garlic, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper. Let marinate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for deeper flavor). -
Cook the Onions:
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet. Add the sliced onions and cook on medium heat until they turn golden and tender. Remove and set aside. -
Sear the Pork:
In the same skillet, add the remaining oil and cook the pork steaks on medium-high heat for about 3–4 minutes per side, until nicely browned. -
Simmer Together:
Lower the heat, return the onions to the pan, and pour any leftover marinade over the steaks. Cover and simmer for 10 more minutes, allowing all flavors to meld.
Serving Suggestions:
Best served hot. Can be paired with white rice, black beans, fried plantains, or a fresh salad.
