Beef Stew with Potatoes
A comforting and savory dish that brings the essence of home-cooked Cuban-style meals to the table. This hearty plate features tender chunks of beef slowly simmered in a rich tomato-based sauce infused with garlic, onions, bell peppers, cumin, and bay leaves.
Ingredients:
-
1.5 lbs (700g) of beef chuck, cut into cubes
-
2 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
-
1 onion, thinly sliced
-
1 green bell pepper, julienned
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 cup tomato sauce
-
1/2 cup dry white wine (optional)
-
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
-
1 bay leaf
-
Olive oil, salt, pepper, and water to taste
Preparation:
The beef is first seared in olive oil until browned, then slowly braised in tomato sauce with white wine and aromatics. Once the meat is nearly tender, the cubed potatoes are added and simmered until soft, absorbing all the delicious flavor of the sauce. The result is a succulent stew where each bite of meat melts in your mouth and the potatoes are perfectly seasoned and tender.
Serving suggestion:
Serve hot, ideally with white rice or freshly baked bread to soak up the savory sauce.
